iPad popularity waning before release?

The Apple iPad still hasn’t been released yet but there are early signs that already consumers have started to go off the idea of buying the device, in a poll by Retrevo.com the number of people who have heard of the device but are not interested in buying it has doubled since Apple unveiled the device in late January.

When consumers were directly asked if they felt they needed the device the news was even worse for Apple with 49% of people before the announcement stating they didn’t think they needed the device raising to 61% after the device had been shown.

Apple have since stated that they aim to be ‘nimble’ on the pricing which means that they could respond to a lukewarm response with a price cut which may make the device more desirable for consumers says the Wall Street Journal.

  4. I think it is a good reminder overall, given the tremendous over-hype that surrounded the iPad launch. Much of the tech press had worked themselves in to a fury and had decided it was going to be the biggest thing ever, without knowing anything about it.
